Capitol I x Major de la Cour

BWP ambassador Ultimo van ter Moude combines the best of Holstein with the best of France. On his father’s side we see the unsurpassed Capitol I, who has been of great importance to the breeding of showjumpers. Just think about the stallions Cassini I, Cento, Cardento, Indoctro, Carthago and Celano, all direct sons to Capitol I and father themselves of countless approved stallions and sporthorses. We can conclude that Capitol I left a true dynasty. Ultimo is one of the last living sons of Capitol.

On his mother’s side he descends from the Selle Francais stallions Major de la Cour and Jalisco B. Major de la Cour, himself a BWP ambassador, is a favoured name in damlines and is father to many a 1.60 horse. Jalisco B jumped 1.60 and, as the father of Quidam de Revel and Quito de Baussy, is a true stud in France. The mother of Ultimo is also the mother of Bow House Rubis (by Kannan) who jumped 1.60 with several Whitakers. A half-brother to his mother, Tarco van ter Moude (by Darco), also jumped 1.60. Many Grand Prix horses, like Icarus, Frauke, Apple de River and Bornthis Way Chappelle, are from this damline.

With Todd Minikus, Ultimo van ter Moude jumped at the highest level. His attitude, scope and carefulness drew particular attention, all of which he has passed down to his offspring. Considering the limited amount of coverages a great number of his offspring have reached the Grand Prix level, of which the most famous is probably Quartz Rouge who jumped with Jerôme Hurel at the EC in Aachen. Other examples are Quechua d’Emeraude, Jameelaty, Ramona de Flobecq, Rouge de Rave land and Rouge Pierreville. That Ultimo is still contemporary and his offspring still wanted was made very clear during the Bolesworth auction in 2020 when a yearling of Ultimo sold for €23.000.
